SBC launches joint venture training centre with Barlows (UK) Ltd.
An innovative new training centre has officially opened at Malpas (Cheshire). The centre is providing opportunities for 25 advanced electro-technical apprentices and others following courses in customer service, health and safety, driver training and management. The centre is planned to become a centre of excellence serving Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales.
The electro-technical apprentices who are employed by Barlows, spend one day a week at the training centre, the rest of the week they are gaining experience by shadowing qualified electricians. The new centre includes a mock house where trainees can work on wiring exercises. SBC Training contracts with the Skills Funding Agency for the provision of Apprenticeships for young people and adults and has extended a long standing relationship with Barlows in to this dedicated skills centre.
SBC is also working with Harper Adams Unitversity College to deliver level 5 diplomas in management from the new centre. The centre is planned to become a centre of excellence serving organisations in Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales.
