16/02/2017 - 16:53

Registration is now open for the Apprenticeship Service!

The Apprenticeship Levy will be launching on April 6 2017! To help you manage your available funds, the Department for Education and Skills Funding Agency has developed the Apprenticeship Service which is now live. If you will be paying the Apprenticeship Levy you will need to register on the online Apprenticeship Service.

We are happy to discuss how your company might be affected by the Levy and whether you will need to register on the Apprenticeship Service, please call our Business Development team on 01743 454810 or email enquiries@sbc-training.co.uk

What is the Apprenticeship Service?

The Apprenticeship Service (previously known as the Digital Apprenticeship Service) is an online digital system (similar to online banking) that has been set up to support the Apprenticeship Levy.

Once registered, the system will enable you to plan, manage and pay for your apprenticeships.

Will you be affected by the Apprenticeship Levy?

The Apprenticeship Levy, which launches on 6 April, will affect large employers who have an annual pay bill of at least £3 million and they will be required to pay a contribution of 0.5% of their pay bill. Paid contributions will be accessible via the Apprenticeship Service which can then be drawn against the cost of training.

If this will affect your company, you will need to work out how much Apprenticeship Levy you are due to pay, and report this to HMRC each month, starting at April 2017. The funds you have available to spend on apprenticeships in England will be added to your account. For help to work this out please click here.

How do I register?

To create an account click here.

Before you can set up your account you must have:

  • Government Gateway login details for the PAYE schemes that you want to include in your account
  • details for each organisation that will be making an agreement with a training provider for apprenticeship training, including the Companies House or charity number (if you have one)

If you don’t have Government Gateway login details, you may need to ask someone from your payroll or finance department to help you set up the account, or to set it up on your behalf.

Further information on how to register is available here.
