This course is for young people who want to develop skills that will enable them to pursue a career within the electrical industry and to enhance their technical capability. This apprenticeship is also suitable for existing employees in the industry who feel they have the ability to meet the challenges of this course.
Apprentices will learn in a blended format which includes online anytime access learning combined with expert-led classroom training in core topics and self-directed learning. The Apprentice will be supported by qualified electricians who will provide opportunities for the Apprentice to gain experience in different specialisations in the electrical industry.
The apprentice will need to complete the following to gain apprenticeship certification:
Level 3 Diploma in Installing/Maintaining Electrical Systems and Equipment:
This qualification provides the in-depth knowledge and theory required to perform safely and efficiently within the electrical industry and reflects the competencies recognised as the benchmark for qualified electrical operatives.
Functional Skills in maths and English:
These provide practical skills to help gain the most out of work, education and everyday life. Learners will complete written and online tests.
Following enrollment, learners engage in a blended programme of training and support that will include attendance at group training sessions on a day release (or block release) basis, work-based learning, email and face-to-face support from their trainer/assessor as well as a programme of training devised by the employer.
The length of the programme will differ depending on experience, knowledge and skills development along with the industry skills selected however the course is targeted for completion within 42 to 48 months.
Avenues of progression include:
- Registration on a Certification Scheme e.g. Testing
- Relevant Level 4/5 qualifications e.g. HNC, Foundation Degree or a Higher Apprenticeship
- Opportunities for career progression with further training into job roles such as Project Manager, Contracts Manger or Team Leader
