Lead Adult Care Workers make a positive difference to people's lives when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. They will be expected to exercise judgement, take appropriate action to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity and control and also supervise the work of other care workers.

Apprentices will learn in a blended format which includes on and off the job learning in the workplace, combined with expert-led classroom training in core topics. Apprentices will also work towards the Care Certificate.

Delivery

Following enrolment, learners engage in a blended programme of training and support that will include self-directed learning, email and face-to-face support from their trainer/assessor as well as a programme of training devised by the employer.

The end-point assessment is the final stage of the apprenticeship. It comprises written and practical tests as well as a professional dialogue and interview.

The length of the programme will differ depending on experience, knowledge and skills development but the course should usually take 15 to 18 months.
