Sector: Health and Social Care
Lead Adult Care Workers make a positive difference to people's lives when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. They will be expected to exercise judgement, take appropriate action to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity and control and also supervise the work of other care workers.
Apprentices will learn in a blended format which includes on and off the job learning in the workplace, combined with expert-led classroom training in core topics. Apprentices will also work towards the Care Certificate.
The Apprentice will need to complete the following to gain apprenticeship certification:
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours modules:
Learners will gain knowledge in relevant topics from attending weekly workshops and completing a learning journal to document and reflect on their development. This knowledge will be transferred to the workplace for further on and off-the-job learning.
Functional Skills in Maths and English:
These provide practical skills to help gain the most out of work, education and everyday life. Learners will complete written and online tests.
Level 3 Diploma in Care:
This qualification supports the apprentice to build their advanced knowledge and understanding in order to develop their performance in the workplace.
End Point Assessment:
The end-point assessment is the final stage of the apprenticeship. It comprises written and practical tests as well as a professional dialogue and interview.
Following enrollment, learners engage in a blended programme of training and support that will include self-directed learning, email and face-to-face support from their trainer/assessor as well as a programme of training devised by the employer.
The length of the programme will differ depending on experience, knowledge and skills development but the course should usually take 15 to 18 months.
Avenues of progression include:
- A clear pathway for career progression within care roles
- Level 4 Health & Social Care or Clinical Healthcare
- Level 3 Team Leading
- Level 3 End of Life or Level 3 Dementia
SBC Training has access to government funding and grants for this apprenticeship.
