This is an accredited course which covers 4 units and is suitable for those new to care, returning to care or require a full understanding of dementia. It is also a valuable qualification for those who come into contact with people who suffer from dementia during the course of their daily life and want to develop an understanding which helps when providing help and support.

What's Involved

Sessions will cover a variety of topics including:

  • Understanding what dementia is
  • The person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals
  • Understanding factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals with dementia
  • Understanding equality, diversity and inclusive in dementia care
  • Understanding the key features of theoretical models of dementia
  • The most common types of dementia and their causes
  • Understanding factors relating to an individual's experience of dementia  

Delivery

Delivery will take place over 2 full days to enable completion of 4 assignments, which will then be presented for certification.

Costs

The course fees are £440 (+VAT) per person.
This course is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is free to Shropshire employees.
