The Apprenticeship Service: Approving Your Cohort
Once SBC Training has added your apprentices to your Apprenticeship Service account, you’ll need to approve the cohort before training can begin and funding can be released.
This is a quick but important step to make sure all details are correct.
Step-by-step: how to approve a cohort
1. Sign in to your account
Go to the GOV.UK Apprenticeship Service and log in using your details.
2. Go to your apprentices
From your dashboard, select “Your apprentices”.
3. Review your cohort
You’ll see a list of apprentices added by SBC Training, grouped into a cohort.
Click into the cohort to review the details.
Take a moment to check:
- Apprentice names and details
- Training course or standard
- Start dates
- Funding information
4. Approve the cohort
If everything looks correct, select “Approve cohort”.
5. Confirm your approval
Follow the prompts to confirm. Once approved, the cohort is submitted and ready to proceed.
What happens next?
After you approve:
- SBC Training can finalise the apprenticeship arrangements
- Funding can be released in line with government rules
- Your apprentices can officially begin their training
- If anything doesn’t look right, you can send the cohort back for amendments
