Tom Preece leads the way as the Security Systems Technician Apprenticeship launched
Meet Tom Preece, our first apprentice on the Level 3 Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technician Apprenticeship Standard. Tom works at Security Wise in Shrewsbury who install and maintain CCTV systems, intruder alarms, fire alarms, automated gates and much more.
Before stating his apprenticeship, Tom was studying for his A-Levels but decided he would be able to learn much better on -the-job via an apprenticeship. Tom was interested in technology and wanted to find a position that would allow him to develop skills in this area. He found a position with Security Wise back in July 2021 which gave him this opportunity.
Tom has now taken on more responsibility in his job role and has even been given a work van. He said, “Security Wise has given me the opportunity to learn key skills to grow into my role and for my future career all whilst getting paid.”
